Seaton Sluice Surf
We are a surf school offering surf lessons for all abilties and ages, from 6 y/o. We're fully insured, accredited, qualified, DBS checked and licensed with NCC. We primarily offer surf lessons however can adapt to ensure a person/group centred approach. Just being in the sea can be amazing for the body and mind. We also have bodyboards, can teach sea safety and can offer a range of engaging and fun activities. Myself and Matty are qualified adaptive surf instructors, meaning we can teach surfing to those with additional needs.
Adaptive surfing is surfing with extra steps taken to remove barriers, making it accessible to people with additional needs; whether those needs are due to disability, illness, injury or learning difficulties. It can be recreational, therapeutic and competitive and is always tailored to the individual following a person centred approach to ensure every surfer can feel the benefits of the sea, reach their surfing goals and have loads of fun while doing so!
There are tonnes of different ways to surf, with the three mains styles being single board surfing, tandem surfing and seated tandem surfing. At present, we don't have adaptive equipment like surfboards with seats on them, however there is still plenty we can do with the standard equipment we have, with the hope to increase our offerings in the future.
If you have any enquiries or requests regarding adaptive surfing and what we may be able to offer, please email us at seatonsluicesurf@gmail.com
