YMCA Northumberland Youth Services
At YMCA Northumberland our vision is for all children and young people in Northumberland to feel safe, valued and able to thrive. Our free youth sessions support young people aged 13-18 to express themselves, build safe and trusting relationships and increase their confidence through fun games, social activities and open discussions. We are a youth lead service and we tailor our support to the young people who attend, to help them feel informed and empowered when navigating the many challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

Our experienced youth team adopt a friendly, fun and empathetic approach, they always on hand for a one-to-one chat and can provide C-cards and signpost to other services when required.
During our sessions, we run social games and activities and give young people the space to relax and make use of the games and resources in our youth lounge including console games, board games, a pool table, a retro arcade machine and a range of arts and crafts supplies.
Every Friday from 4-8pm we run the Youth Cafe where young people can get to know each other whilst sharing a delicious home-cooked meal. Participants can also learn to prepare a different meal each week, giving them the tools to cook healthy, tasty food at home and increase their independence.

Who can use this service?
Our sessions are free to any young person living in Northumberland. We currently run sessions for ages 13-18.
How are services delivered?
At present all of our youth sessions are delivered face-to-face in our YMCA Northumberland premises in Ashington.
We also provide outreach services in and around Ashington to support young people who are not currently engaged with centre based services.
