Friends of Ashington Community Woods
We are a friendly group carrying out various conservation tasks including tidying up, litter picking, cutting back overhanging branches etc. We are looking for volunteers to come and help. Training will be given and we are fully insured. Being outside is very beneficial to everyone's mental health so come and join us.
Ashington Community Woodland is a large woodland planting scheme which has been used to reclaim the former Ashington Colliery site and associated post industrial land. This large site, covering approximately 135 hectares is owned by Northumberland County Council and is jointly managed by them with the help of The Friends Of Ashington Community Woods (FoACW). Assistance is also provided by Groundwork NE (when funding is available).
