Funding is available for a new mains gas connection and first-time gas central heating system. Communitas Energy CIC is a regulated not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We don't have shareholders, and we reinvest back into the communities we work with. Our aim is to help make homes warmer, greener and more energy efficient.

Eligibility criteria apply. Evidence to confirm eligibility will be required where requested and is usually required following an initial verbal eligibility checking process. Other criteria may also apply and will be advised during the application according to the specific circumstances of the case.

Funding is limited and provided on a first-come-first served basis. No funding is guarenteed until confirmed by the scheme.

The funding is provided by Northern Gas Networks who are the gas distribution network company covering most of the north of England - see their website for more information on who they are: https://www.northerngasnetworks.co.uk/

Before installing a new gas heating system, the home owner should consider if a low carbon heating system is suitable, such as a heat pump. We can help advise on this.

Who can use this service?

Owner occupiers of private homes. If required we can liaise with a friend, relative or other 3rd party organisation acting on behalf of the person/people living in their privately owned home.

Private rented housing (not social/council housing). Eligibility will be based on the property and the tenant's circumstances and we will need to speak with the tenant for this. Landlord permission is required. A landlord would be required to contribute 30% of the total cost.

How are services delivered?

Correspondence will be via phone and email.

If a new Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) is required for eligibility, an EPC surveyor will be appointed by us - they will need to visit the home to complete the survey.

If confirmed eligible and accepted into the scheme, a heating installer will be appointed by us - they will need to visit the home for a heating survey and to complete the installation if the work is approved to go ahead.
